We've Got CLASS!!

If you love the Spring ABCs Sampler, but are a bit intimidated, this class is for you!

Whether you are new to embroidery or just need a little brush up on your embroidery skills, this is the class to take.  Janet Holland will be teaching this class on Saturday, March 1st from 11:00am - 1:00pm.  Please call or come into the store to reserve you spot.

Stitching Down Under

Beginning in April, join us the FIRST Monday of each month for STITCHING DOWN UNDER! We're taking a trip down under and stitching up designs from our favorite Australian designers! 

Not only will there be a different stitchery each month, but also a different way to finish up each project.  The first months' project is a mini quilt made using the fabric line Noteworthy by Sweetwater for Moda.

One month the stitchery will be finished as a stitching bag, another month we will make a pincushion, another month the project will be framed, etc. 

 

All supplies are included with enrollment in the Stitching Down Under club.  There will be an initial sign up fee of $30, and then a $15 fee each month.  The club will run for twelve months, with a break the month of December.  You must call or come in to the store to sign up, space is limited.

 

We are excited to share our passion for embroidery, as well as our appreciation for the many talented designers from down under!

Last year,at this time, my sisters, sisters-in-law, our mom & I all went to the Workman cabin in Midway and had a weekend retreat of sewing, card-making, movie watching and of course eating yummy food!  There were a couple of projects I brought along for us all to make while we were away.  One of them was a darling appliqued pillow from the Art to Heart book Bittersweet.  And the other was an embroidered/appliqued Halloween project I had designed.  I found the completed project in my 'fall bin' a couple of weeks ago and I still adore it.  So I decided to share it with you today. 

This project can be made in as little as an hour, with whatever Halloween fabric scraps you have on hand.  Or as you can see from the photos of mine, I used some basic orange and basic black scraps of fabric for the bunting pieces.  You will also need a 8" wooden embroidery hoop (I painted my wooden embroidery hoop black), a small piece of osnaburg, a scrap of solid gray fabric, a 2" strip of Heat 'n Bond LITE, and a little bit of black embroidery floss.  Not only is this project a quick one, but it is inexpensive too!  Click here to download the PDF pattern and get started right away on this 'spooky' little project  :)

• Start by tracing the bunting shapes onto the paper side of the Heat 'n Bond LITE.  Iron to the wrong side of your fabrics scraps and cut out on lines.  Using the pattern as a guide to lay out your bunting pieces, remove the paper and iron in place. 
• Next, trace the tree shape onto the osnaburg and stitch with one strand of black embroidery floss.  
• Cut a piece of solid gray fabric large enough to fit into down into the hoop.  Using the pattern as a guide, lay the gray fabric across the bottom of the stitchery, and sew 1/8" in from the top edge using your sewing machine. This will hold the fabric in place.
• Trace the word 'spooky' onto the gray fabric and stitch using 2 strands of black embroidery floss.
• The final step is to place the stitchery into the hoop, trim the excess fabric away from the back, and you are done!  (for a great tutorial on framing in an embroidery hoop, click here)

New Embroidery is Here!

We are so excited to finally have Sarah Jane's new embroidery patterns in the shop!  Can you believe how sweet!  We also have her new line of fabric Children at Play for Michael Miller. I cannot wait to get started on one of the embroidery designs, the only problem is which one???

Also in the shop are pre-cuts for Camille Roskelly's FAAABULOUS line Ruby!   I am starting my own Ruby project this weekend.  Yah, can't wait to play with this line!
