HQNA Winterfest registration is open!
For the past 12+ years I have been teaching at the fabulous Winterfest Quilt Retreat and I am excited to be teaching again this year.
I'll be teaching two fun classes....
Take a peak at my Halloween ABC's and you'll get a glimpse of what I have in store for my new Spring ABC'S Mystery Stitches, This class will be full of helpful hints for getting the best result with your embroidery stitches and so much more. Join me as we get a winters jump on springtime possibilities!
I am also teaching a delightful Mystery Quilt. This is not a picture of the quilt, it's a Mystery remember, but you can see a bit of my style, a bit of this and a bit of that, bright, happy and fun to sew!
There are so many great classes being offered but that is just a small part of this premier quilt retreat. HQNA has thought of everything and offers so many great options. Stay for the entire retreat or come for a single class, it's up to you.

WITCHS NIGHT OUT!!
Witches love any excuse to have fun and throw a party and the party is this weekend, Friday & Saturday, October 25th-26th. Ladies...join your fellow sister witches for the 13th year of Witches' Night Out. Wear your most elaborate, crazy, fun, whimsical witch’s hat or witch's costume. Gardner Village will be filled with enchanting witches from 6 pm to 10 pm both nights. Enter the drawing for fun prizes at 7 pm and 9 pm nightly. Also enjoy dancing, music, food booths and more. Enjoy spellbinding activities in our shops, and join the Witches' Parade at 8 pm nightly. Join in the dance finale at 10 pm at the main stage. Leave the children with the sitter and grab your witchy friends for this spellbinding ladies night out. Ladies 18 years and older encouraged.
Parking your broom can be hectic this time of year. Due to the huge increase of traffic for Witches' Night Out, we must hire professional parking attendants. There will be a $5 per car parking fee beginning at 10 am on October 11th and 12th and October 25th and 26th. This parking fee ONLY applies to these four dates during October. Receive valuable Village coupons when you park. An alternative option to parking would be to take the train. There's a TRAX stop across the street from Gardner Village.

Knits are IN!!!
I was so excited when I popped into the shop the other day and saw the new fabulous Riley Blake knits. I immediately knew a maxi skirt would finally be mine! Now just to decide what color? Aqua stripe, Yellow chevron, Navy....how will I decide. I made a mental note to pop online and see if I could find out how to sew one up and then to my surprise I stumbled across a super easy tute on Riley Blake's cutting corners....
Love how they show how versatile this style skirt is, great for all ages and all sizes. Click on over to Cutting Corners and check it out.
Thank's for stopping by. If you have any tips for sewing with knits I'd love to hear!

We've Got Class
Today I want to show you a table runner class being taught by Mary Cowan called THREE SHINING STARS.
Mary made her original runner out of traditional Americana fabrics, but now the cover photo on the pattern shows a very striking red, black, gray and white version. This is such a versatile pattern. One year I made each of my sisters and my mom this table runner out of the fabric line Wuthering Heights by 3 Sisters for Moda. Do you remember that fabulous line? And Mary has also made it using Christmas fabrics, and that version is to die for as well! We have kits available in this our modern take on Americana, or you can choose you own fabrics from any fabric line and it will look great!
If you would like to sign up for this class, please come into the store or call us at (801)233-0551 and we will sign you up over the phone.

One of my favorite Quilt Market finds
One of my favorite market finds this year was from the fabulous Heather Mulder Peterson of Anka's Treasures.
I love her books because they are so packed full of quilts and her instructions are clear and easy to follow with lots of illustrations (illustrations are crucial for me because I'm such a visual learner).
All the quilts in the book Angles With Ease are made using her genius variation of a standard triangle ruler....
It might look like one you've seen before, but look again.....see the angled lines marked A & B? With strip piecing and this handy tool you get an amazing array of blocks.
There are so many more that you will definitely get your moneys worth with this one.
Sandy
